ICMol to Showcase Innovation at Science for Industry 2025...

The Institute of Molecular Science (ICMol) will participate on January 29 and 30, 2025, in Science for Industry 2025, an event promoting a knowledge-based economic model as a driver of progress. This gathering highlights the critical role of Deep Science as a key tool to strengthen European competitiveness and accelerate the transfer of transformative technologies.

At the SOMMa Alliance space, ICMol, together with its research groups Mupomat and FUNIMAT, will present two innovative prototypes that stand out for their contribution to scientific and technological advancements in their respective fields.

Porous Materials for Environmental Sustainability (Mupomat Group)

The team led by Emilio Pardo Marín and Jesús Ferrando Soria will showcase hybrid metal-organic porous materials (MOFs) designed specifically to capture emerging water contaminants. These devices provide a compact, efficient, and scalable solution to address the growing challenge of water pollution, with a unique adaptability to meet specific client needs. Learn More

PhotoSpinner: Accelerating Photochemistry (FUNIMAT Group)

On the other hand, Sergio Tatay Aguilar and Garin Escorcia Ariza will present the PhotoSpinner, a 3D-printed photoreactor designed to accelerate and reproduce the discovery of new photochemical reactions. Its compact and versatile design makes it an ideal tool for research in heterogeneous media, facilitating access to advanced technologies at a reduced cost. Learn more

SOMMa Alliance

Both prototypes are part of the innovation catalog of SOMMa's Centers and Units of Excellence, a network that brings together the country’s leading scientific institutions. As an active member of this alliance, ICMol continues to lead projects that combine cutting-edge science with knowledge transfer to drive progress and innovation.

SOMMa is the alliance of Severo Ochoa Centres and María de Maeztu Units to promote Spanish Excellence in research and to enhance its social impact at national and international levels.
