Last Friday 12th April, the "I Valencia Silicon Forum" took place in the CEV auditorium, a major event organised by Valencia Silicon Cluster (VASIC), the CEV, the Universitat de València and the Universitat Politècnica de València, in collaboration with the Generalitat and the PerteChip of microelectronics and semiconductors. During the event, two new UPV chairs were presented, on photonic chips and microelectronic design, and another one from the UV on advanced materials for microchips, as well as the International Semiconductor Campus.

The Director of the Institute of Molecular Science (ICMol) participated in the round table "Presentation of the new UV-VaSiC University-Business Chair in Advanced Materials for the microchip and semiconductor industry".

During the event, the leadership of the #ComunitatValenciana in talent within this sector and in the PERTE Chip chair awards was highlighted. Eva Blasco, president of CEV Valencia, highlighted the importance of the microchip and semiconductor sector in digital technological innovation, underlining the strategic role of the region in leading development and innovation in this field at both national and European level.

María Teresa Bacete, president of Valencia Silicon Cluster, emphasised the strong ecosystem that the region has in the integrated microelectronics and photonics sectors, pointing out that the approval of the 3 Chip Chairs in Valencian universities will boost the growth of the sector. He also emphasised the importance of continuing to work and forming a bilateral State-Government round table, with the participation of industry and universities, to successfully implement the necessary actions for the execution of the PERTE Chip.

The event also featured speeches by the President of the Generalitat, Carlos Mazón; the Government Delegate, Pilar Bernabé; the Secretary of State for Telecommunications and Digital Infrastructures, Maria Gonzalez Veracruz; the Rector of the Universitat Politècnica de València, José E. Capilla; and the Rector of the Universitat de València, María Vicenta Mestre.
