The Més AccenT candidacy, led by ICMol researcher José Jaime Baldoví, received the support of 90.48% of the members.
The Association of Scientists of Excellence of the Gen-T Plan (AccenT) has held elections this week for a new board of directors. The Més AccenT candidacy, the only one presented, was elected with 90.48% of the votes in favour. The result of the vote was made public at the general assembly of members that took place in the auditorium of the main building of the Science Park of the University of Valencia on Monday 1 July. The new Board of Directors will take office at the beginning of September.
Along with Baldoví, the Més AccenT candidacy is formed by ICMUV researcher Teresa S. Ripollés as vice-president, ICMol researcher Amilcar Bedoya (secretary) and IATA-CSIC researcher Estéfani García Ríos (treasurer). The new board also includes researchers Carlos Doñate (Universitat Jaume I de Castelló), Anabel Morales (IFIC-CSIC), Eduardo Leyva (CSIC-Universidad Miguel Hernández), Rosa M. Arán (Universidad de Alicante) and Vicente Martí Centelles (Universitat Politècnica de València). "We are a group of researchers from the Gen-T Plan with the enthusiasm to continue defending the interests of all the researchers in the association and the consolidation of the programme," they explain.
Among the objectives of the new board of directors are the promotion of cohesion among the members of the association in order to bring science closer to society as a whole in the Valencian Community, as well as to strengthen ties with the business fabric of the region. To this end, they propose a series of events and actions, such as the organisation of an annual event in conference format that will take place in the three provincial capitals of the Comunitat on a rotating basis, taking science to the county capitals in an informative way, developing new formats of interaction between secondary school students and AccenT, participating in the 11F activities (International Day of Women and Girls in Science), continuing the fruitful interaction with the Lab Mediterráneo Foundation, and continuing our work as interlocutors between our researchers and their respective institutions, as well as with the Generalitat Valenciana.
Baldoví took the opportunity to thank the members for their confidence in the project and the entire team of the current board of directors, chaired by Gonzalo Abellán, "for all the work you have impeccably carried out in the creation and management of AccenT over the last few years". Likewise, the new vice-president Teresa S. Ripollés said: "we are here for you, very excited to be able to defend the interests of all the researchers in the association and the consolidation of the programme".
